On October 3, 2013, a small fishing boat carrying 518 migrants capsized less than half a mile from the Italian island of Lampedusa, killing 368 people.

The migrants, mostly Eritrean and Somalian, were traveling to Europe in search of a better life. Known as the "Lampedusa Tragedy," it brought into focus the dangerous Mediterranean crossing that thousands of migrants undertake each year, trying to escape poverty and violence in the Middle East and Africa.

More than a year after the Lampedusa Tragedy, photographers Francesco Zizola and Teresa Smith explore the underwater wreckage in a Channel 4 News video.
