Jesse Draper is creator and host of The Valley Girl Show, through which she's become a spokesperson for startups and helped pioneer the way of new media content distribution. Formerly a Nickelodeon star, Draper is now CEO of Valley Girl‚ where she oversees the show and runs technology blog Lalawag.com.

Hosain Rahman, who started Jawbone just out of Stanford University, wasn't originally aiming to create a consumer electronics company. Initially, it set out to enable speech recognition on mobile phones (this was before Siri), and what they realized was that to make speech recognition work, they first had to solve the problem of background noise. That led to the development of an industry-leading noise-elimination technology called NoiseAssassin, which now lies at the heart of all the company's audio products.

In the interview above, Rahman shares how he founded Jawbone and what inspires him. While incognito, he often asks people at airports what they think of his products. He reveals that the company has almost “died” five times, and he shares why they started innovating in the health care realm.

Jawbone, named after the successful earpiece, most recently launched the Big Jambox speaker. Take a look at the interview -- we definitely jammed out.
