VW's Super Bowl Ad Is Here and It's Wacky

That annual rite of passage, the launch of Volkswagen's Super Bowl ad, is finally here -- and the brand has once again taken the zany route.

The 60-second ad shows a guy driving his VW and his daughter in the passenger seat. As he notices the odometer clicking past 100,000 miles, he tries to stress to his daughter what a big deal this is. "What if I told you that every time a Volkswagen hits 100,000 miles, a German engineer gets his wings," he says.

Smash cut to said engineers sprouting huge human-sized wings somewhere in Germany.

The spot ends with a sarcastic one-liner from the daughter that sets up the ad's clever kicker.

Ever since VW released "The Force," the most-shared Super Bowl ad of all time, in 2011, the brand's Super Bowl ads have been highly anticipated by consumers and the ad industry. Here are the brand's other ads since then:
