We are definitely not in Kansas anymore.

On Monday, one of Dorothy's costume dresses from The Wizard of Oz sold at a New York City auction for a tight $1.5 million.

The dress is one of several identical blue-and-white frocks worn by Judy Garland's character, Dorothy, in the 1939 classic. The anonymous buyer called into Bonhams and bid over the phone.

Wizard of Oz memorabilia has a history of being highly coveted and bid upon. The Cowardly Lion's costume sold for $3 million at Bonhams in 2014, while a "test" dress of Garland's -- made for filming but never actually worn onscreen -- sold for $245,000. One of the four pairs of iconic ruby slippers Garland wore for filming has been missing for over ten years, and is estimated to be worth between $2 and $3 million (and insured for $1 million).
