Back in April, e-mail management software Xobni added enhanced Facebook support to its Outlook plugin. The service also integrates with LinkedIn. Now users will see a new icon in their Xobni sidebar: Twitter.
With the Xobni Outlook plugin, users can send tweets and direct messages, view the Twitter updates from their contacts, post retweets, and follow or unfollow users all from within Outlook. Xobni says this is just the first step to providing Twitter information within Outlook.
More and more businesses are starting to use Twitter as a way to communicate with clients, customers, and one-another. Leveraging the power of a tool like Outlook and adding in the ability to communicate directly on social channels is a smart idea -- I only wish Xobni had a plugin for Apple Mail too.
