The YouTube app on Apple TV just got a few big upgrades, including (for the first time) full access to all of the video-sharing site's content library.

Apple's set-top box now includes all YouTube videos; in the past, the catalog was limited and didn't include much of YouTube's more popular content. Searching for a popular music video, for example, might yield results for parodies and covers, but not the song from the original artist. That shouldn't be a problem anymore, according to YouTube.

The YouTube app update for Apple TV also includes a predictive search function, personalized recommendations and the option to subscribe to accounts directly through the set-top box. In a video that highlights the new features (above), YouTube says the upgrade will bring the "full YouTube experience" to users' TVs.

Previously, some users had complained about the YouTube app on Apple TV, calling it clunky and "awful."

Apple TV received another update back in September that added the Beats Music service to the platform. The set-top box is not the tech giant's most popular product by any stretch, but rumor has it that it could become Apple's smart-home hub.
