Balloon failed at its one job, and no one can stop thinking about it

You'd think the most conversation-starting thing on the internet wouldn't be one balloon, but hey, anything is possible.

@0600Hours posted an amusing picture of a balloon that just did not make sense. It's a balloon with a tiny face drawn on it, so when blown up the face would be enormous, right?

This balloon had one job.

A humble Greg Kennedy responded early on with the most normal response:

It's what we were all thinking, Greg.

But from there, the conversation delved into a public forum of creativity and free associations. We begin with an artistic short film about the balloon:

Followed by those who were compelled to share their own balloon horror stories:

This one is just going to give me nightmares.

Then, the conversation naturally delved into big faces, starting with "the pebble:"

Followed by America's sweetheart Haley Joel Osment and his actual large face:

And then, is that Rihanna as an air balloon? At this point, why not.

This one is my personal favorite:

In retrospect, this conversation has a somewhat natural progression. Great A to C work, Twitter.

We learned a lesson today: give the internet anything and they'll make something strange beautiful.
