In hopes of completing his very first race, a health-conscious bear joined a 10-mile run held Sunday in Colorado.

Per FOX31, the bear surprised runners as they made their way through the Garden of the Gods park in Colorado Springs.

Local runner Donald Sanborn stopped to snap photos, costing him "precious time in the middle of a race," but blessing the rest of us with photos from the event. There were no reported injuries.

No word yet on the bear's final race time.
