Thomas Middleditch, whose Zuckerbergian Richard Hendricks delights on HBO's Silicon Valley, had some choice words on Instagram for his BlizzCon haters.

Blizzard Entertainment booked Middleditch to host Saturday evening's talent and cosplay competition at the annual fan event. He was called out for wisecracks about basement-dwelling gamers (fair), mispronounced names and a perceived lack of familiarity with Blizzard's games.

Middleditch is a self-professed geek, but -- as a first-time BlizzCon attendee -- he was perhaps not the super-fan that event-goers had hoped to see in an emcee role. Although he had his share of defenders as well, Middleditch took the negativity to heart.

So the actor took to Instagram after the event was over to demonstrate his geek cred and make a simple appeal: learn to make fun of yourself.

Good advice, especially in this era of outrage culture.
