If you see him, say hello. That's what the Nobel academy must have told Bob Dylan's close associates after unsuccessfully trying to contact him about a certain literature award.

The 75-year-old has kept his mouth shut about the honor, despite several attempts from the academy's permanent secretary, Sara Danius, to get in touch with him.

He even performed a concert at The Chelsea theatre in Las Vegas on the same day he won the Nobel prize and didn't say a word about the award. Casual.

After a week, it felt that the times were a-changin' and Dylan was finally ready to at least acknowledge that he had been awarded the Nobel prize.

The simple words "winner of the Nobel prize in literature" in capital letters appeared on the official page for The Lyrics: 1961-2012, a website plugging a new book with a collection of his lyrics.

News that Bob Dylan thought twice and it was alright made the headlines - but it didn't last.

Even that single sentence was way too much for the beloved songwriter, who quietly deleted the reference as if to say "It ain't me babe".

Obviously we don't know whether this is just an administrative blunder or the singer's choice.

The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind.
