You probably didn't realise this, but today is the 20th anniversary of everybody's favourite claymation poultry adventure, Chicken Run — and to mark the occasion, there was some pretty big news.

In the early hours of the morning, Netflix tweeted to confirm that an actual sequel will be coming to the streaming platform.

Aardman Animations (the studio behind the movie) then swooped in with their own announcement, confirming production was slated to begin in 2021, and that the film will be available globally.

They also shared this fairly tantalising blurb:

Having pulled off a death-defying escape from Tweedy’s farm, Ginger has finally found her dream – a peaceful island sanctuary for the whole flock, far from the dangers of the human world. When she and Rocky hatch a little girl called Molly, Ginger’s happy ending seems complete. But back on the mainland the whole of chicken-kind faces a new and terrible threat. For Ginger and her team, even if it means putting their own hard-won freedom at risk – this time, they’re breaking in!

There's no word on a release date yet, but if production is starting next year it probably won't be for a while yet.

Still, we're just happy it's finally happening.
