More than 200 scarecrows in various shapes and sizes have been put up on a construction site in Luoyang city in Henan, China.

Unlike the usual scarecrows you'd find on a farm, these scarecrows come as popular cartoon characters such as Minions and Kung Fu Panda, and there are animals like elephants, bears and dinosaurs.

Traditionally, scarecrows were built by farmers to keep crows away from crops, but the company behind this novelty idea is hoping to attract visitors instead. When completed, the grounds will be the site of a new wild animal safari on the Wanan Mountain, and the straw figures were built as part of a soft opening to drum up interest, local reports say.

Since the scarecrows went up on Wednesday, the site has attracted droves of visitors eager to strike a pose with their new straw-built friends.
