If the potential political showdown at this summer's Republican National Convention isn't scary enough for you, consider renting out a serial killer's childhood home.

The childhood home of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer is available to rent for the Republican National Convention, which will be held July 18 to 21 in Cleveland.

The 2,170 square foot, three-bedroom, one-and-a-half bath house is available to rent for $8,000, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. The Journal reported the rental was for the week of the convention, although the listing on Howard Hanna has that as a monthly price.

Dahmer moved there with his parents when he was 8 years old.

While the home rental sounds like a decent April Fools' day prank, the listing is real, and perhaps better classified as a publicity stunt. The full description on the listing reads:

Mid-century modern home with a true park-like setting. Smoking and animals okay. This is Jeffrey Dahmer's childhood home. Close to Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Montrose shopping. Easy access to I-77 highway.

The Bath, Ohio, home has been owned since 2005 by Chris Butler, a former member of the 1980s new-wave band The Waitresses. He has worked to restore the 1952 home to some of its original mid-century modern glory.

"The vibe was always good," he said of the house to the Akron Beacon Journal, "but now it’s kind of really good."

Dahmer killed 17 men between 1978 and 1991, and received 15 consecutive life sentences. He was murdered in prison in 1994.

Butler has been trying to sell the home since 2012.
