Protesters swarmed the steps of the Capitol in Washington, D.C., on Thursday night to express anger over the deaths of two black men who were shot by police.

On Wednesday night, the girlfriend of Philando Castile shared graphic footage on Facebook of the 32-year-old man bloody and slumped over after being shot during a traffic stop. This came a day after a video was released of Alton Sterling, 37, getting pinned to the ground by two officers and shot.

In response, protests have been staged in cities across the country. They were especially passionate in Washington, D.C., where the protesters broke through the barriers surrounding the Capitol Building.
