Deadpool is about to get lucky.

Atlanta actress Zazie Beetz has just joined the cast of Deadpool 2 in the role of Domino, a mutant mercenary with the power of "subconscious telekinetic probability manipulation" -- essentially, the gift of incredibly good luck.

Beetz represents the first major piece of new casting for the highly anticipated superhero sequel. Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds announced the big news on Twitter today.

In case that was too subtle, Reynolds also shared a nifty little mockup of what Beetz might look like in the role.

The announcement comes after a lengthy casting process surrounded by intense speculation from fans. Early reports indicated that 10 Cloverfield Lane's Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Orange Is the New Black's Ruby Rose, and Star Trek Beyond's Sofia Boutella were all in the mix at one point or another, and just yesterday, a rumor went around claiming Moonlight and Hidden Figures star Janelle Monáe had emerged as the frontrunner. But you can throw all those stories out the window now that Reynolds has made Beetz official.

Few details have been revealed about the plot of Deadpool 2, but if we were the betting type we'd put money on Beetz returning down the line for the X-Force movie currently in development. In the Marvel comics, both Deadpool and Domino are associated with that X-Men-like team -- as is Cable, another beloved character expected to make his big-screen debut in Deadpool 2.

Deadpool 2 does not yet have a release date.
