Since rumors of the iPhone 7 began to percolate, eBay says an iPhone 6 or 6S has sold every minute on its site.

To capitalize on the upgrade craze, the online marketplace is launching Quick Sale, a smartphone trade-in site.

The new site allows eBay users to send their phones into eBay Valet, the platform where professional eBay-ers sell your items for you. The site will tell you the trade-in value for your old phone, and you print out a label and send it in.

By taking most of the work out of selling an old iPhone, eBay is hoping to get the business of consumers who have pre-ordered the iPhone 7.

“eBay has always been recognized as a top destination for buying electronics,” Laura Chambers, eBay's vice president of C2C (customer-to-customer), said in a statement. “It’s also the best place to sell your smartphone and make the most money. We’re always looking for new ways to make online selling easier and more rewarding for consumers. Our new Quick Sale service delivers a new standard of convenience and speed, giving sellers a new way to tailor their online selling experience to their needs.”

For eBay users who would rather sell their phones themselves (and avoid giving a commission to eBay Valet), the site is offering tips on timing.

Before last year's iPhone 6S launch, eBay sellers earned an average of $508 for the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus. A month later, they earned 25 percent less, eBay says.

This year, eBay says, sellers should expect to earn between $350 and $600 for their 6 and up iPhone models.

Right now, sellers are earning an average of $358 for an iPhone 6, $438 for an iPhone 6 Plus, $532 for an iPhone 6S and $601 for an iPhone 6S Plus.

The iPhone 6S retails from Apple for $549 and the 6S Plus for $649.

The iPhone 7 will be released Sept. 16 at $649 for the 7 and $769 for the 7 Plus.
