Ed Sheeran may be performing at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal wedding. That is, if the couple asks him first.

Sheeran expressed interest in performing for the royal couple on their wedding day when reporters asked him if he'd be up for the task if they give him a call, People reported Thursday.

"Yeah, why not?" he said.

Sheeran shared with reporters that Markle and Prince Harry haven't been in touch, but that doesn't mean the singer doesn't have an in with the monarchy of the United Kingdom.

Just before speaking with reporters, Sheeran was honored at a Buckingham Palace Investiture ceremony, receiving the MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for his work in music and charity. He received the award from Prince Charles, the son of Queen Elizabeth II and father of Prince Harry.

The couple just needs to make sure that Sheeran would be a good fit for their big day, because the last time the singer was forced into something it kind of ruined one of the most popular shows on television.

Performing at the royal wedding would be a big honor for Sheeran, who shared with reporters that his grandfather was a fan of the monarchy and amassed a collection of royal memorabilia, and would be proud that he received the MBE.

"He died on this day four years ago, so it’s actually quite a nice full circle thing, I guess he’d be pretty proud,” Sheeran told reporters.
