This 'Game of Thrones' theory about Sansa's letter could be bad news for Ramsay

LONDON -- The countdown to the battle of the bastards has begun.

And although we're all wildly excited about seeing Jon Snow go head-to-head with Ramsay, there is a small background concern: How the hell is he going to overcome Bolton's superior army with just his ragtag band of wildlings and those 60-odd fighters from Bear Island?

Well, it might not be quite that simple. Remember the letter Sansa sent a couple of episodes back? The one that, after being deciphered on Reddit, was shown to be addressed to Littlefinger, requesting that he bring his army up from the Vale to assist them?

It'd be perfect, wouldn't it? If Sansa really was intending for Ramsay to intercept her letter, then she'd be killing two birds with one stone. On the one hand she'd be helping her brother secure extra troops, while on the other she's expertly playing two characters she despises off against each other.

But if Ramsay does intercept the letter, what would happen next?

Some Redditors thought Ramsay's army wouldn't stand a chance against Littlefinger -- while others argued Moat Cailin would help him fend them off.

Others, meanwhile, though this could be the perfect time for the Reeds to get involved.

Whatever the outcome, though, it'll undeniably help Jon in his fight. If Ramsay hasn't intercepted the letter then Littlefinger will be able to swoop in and pincer Ramsay's troops. If Ramsay has intercepted it he'll split his army and thereby reduce the force attacking Jon.

Either way, one thing's for certain from the Episode Nine preview: In his hunger for battle, Ramsay has given up the relative safety of Winterfell and he's meeting Jon Snow's army in the field.

If he doesn't know about Littlefinger (or if the Vale army easily manage to overpower any Boltons in their way), then Ramsay will have completely given up his tactical advantage and left himself hugely exposed.
