A 23-year-old inmate at Floyd County Detention Center was found dead in a multi-person cell on Thursday and officials say they don't know what caused her death.

Hanna Robb was allegedly found unresponsive in her cell during a routine check. Officials reportedly tried to save her, but couldn't.

Robb was arrested and brought to jail on March 25 after she failed to appear in court following a misdemeanor charge.

Police are waiting for autopsy results to determine how she died.

Media attention on jail deaths ratcheted up last year after a black woman named Sandra Bland was jailed in Texas following a traffic stop, and found dead in her cell three days later.

Other deaths following arrest -- such as the killing of Natasha McKenna by Fairfax County officers as they were transporting her from one facility to another -- heightened scrutiny around police conduct behind clothed doors.
