If you've seen it, you know it: The iPhone X has an absolutely stunning OLED display.

But now display calibration experts at DisplayMate have put the iPhone X's screen under the scrutiny of their extensive tests, and they agree: Not only does the iPhone X top any other smartphone display out there, it's the best smartphone display ever made.

According to DisplayMate, the iPhone X has the highest color accuracy of any smartphone display, the highest full-screen brightness for OLED smartphones, the highest full-screen contrast rating in ambient light, the highest contrast ratio, the lowest screen reflectance, and the smallest brightness variation with viewing angle changes.

All of these earned the iPhone X's display the highest grade DisplayMate has ever awarded to any smartphone display, A+.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 flagship has also gotten the A+ grade in a recent test, and it's better than the iPhone X's screen in some aspects, such as higher screen brightness for small portions of the screen area, but the iPhone X is the better screen overall.

It's worth noting that both the iPhone X's and the Note 8's displays were built by Samsung Display. It's Apple's display calibration, however, that makes the iPhone X's display just a bit better than the best displays in Samsung's own phones. In fact, the iPhone X's is so color accurate that it's better, with that regard, than any other display DisplayMate has ever tested, including monitors and TVs.
