Let this be a lesson for all you, Major League Baseball fans.

Don't heckle Joey Votto. It will only end badly for you.

We know this because of video shot by Twitter user Keegan Haag at a recent Cincinnati Reds game.

When someone in the premium seats tried to heckle Votto, the Reds slugger gave the heckler more heckling than he bargained for.

If you can't hear the video, here's how it went down.

Heckler: [Inaudible]

Votto: Pardon me?

Heckler: I remember when you used to be good.

Votto: I remember when you used to thin.

Heckler: That's around the same time you were good.

Votto: Now you guys are just talking. You're not stating facts. I'm using facts.

Heckler: The fact was you were standing on third base when the ball wasn't even in his hand! You were just standing there like a deer in the headlights like, "Dammit, what am I doing standing on third? I'm supposed to be on second!"

Votto: You know what the difference is? You know what the difference is? Right now this guy is filming this. I've got something to lose, and you guys don't even have a life so you got nothing to lose at all.

Heckler: Exactly!

Votto: It looks terrible if I start talking to you guys.

Heckler: That would be a shame, wouldn't it?

As they say in baseball: Game, set, match.
