John Mayer's green screen music video is a meme dream come true

This is quality content.

John Mayer's new music video is uh, something else.

In the teaser he tweeted Wednesday, apparently his song "New Light" was so good, it required a music video fast. Like, really fast.

"Where literally any video is better than nothing," the teaser says, before cutting to a clip of Mayer hanging out with a zebra and waving ... to himself?

And the video, released Thursday, is amazing. From the opening shot -- a title screen that misspells the artist as "John Mayor" -- to the clips of Mayer dancing on a mountain with a miniature version of himself, this video has the makings of a quality meme.

"I'm the boy in your other phone," three versions of Mayer croon over a sunset like some kind of 1980's fever dream. "Lighting up inside your drawer at home."

Dressed like your standard art school student showing up to morning classes half an hour late, Mayer visits Paris, the pyramids, and an unnamed freeway. It's premium content.

So what's the story behind the video? Is it a nod to Mark Gormley's 2007 YouTube classic, "Little Wings?" A tribute to Kanye West's "Bound 2," where the fake wind blows Kim Kardashian's hair in the wrong direction?

According to Mayer, nobody could agree on a budget for the music video, so he found a company that usually creates those cheesy birthday and Bar Mitzvah montages and made this masterpiece. It's a testament to green screen magic.

Every frame of this music video is relatable, whether it's Mayer shaking his head in front of Times Square or waving at a busy young professional in a sea of cubicles.

John Mayer's fans congratulated him on his initiation to adulthood.

But the most relatable moment is from the teaser, which posits the key points to consider when posting to social media:

Is it good?

Define "good."

Is it content?

You're damn right it's content.

And is John Mayer's "New Light" good content? You're damn right it's good content.
