Emirates has now completed the new world's longest flight, nonstop from Auckland to Dubai.

The flight was projected to take 17 hours and 15 minutes and cover 8,819 miles, making it the longest flight in the world. However the flight was shorter than expected: The final flight time was 16 hours and 24 minutes.

Flight conditions will vary the actual length of the route.

"This non-stop services cements the commitment and the importance of New Zealand to us as an airline and of New Zealand as part of our global network," Gary Chapman, president of group services and data for Emirates, said in the video.

The inaugural flights are operated by an Airbus A380, but once the flights become part of standard service, they will be operated by a Boeing 777-200LR.
