Glee star Mark Salling has died at the age of 35.

The news of his death was first reported by TMZ. TMZ says it was an apparent suicide.

“I can confirm that Mark Salling passed away early this morning," Salling's attorney Michael Proctor said in a statement to People. "Mark was a gentle and loving person, a person of great creativity, who was doing his best to atone for some serious mistakes and errors of judgment. He is survived by his mother and father, and his brother. The Salling family appreciates the support they have been receiving and asks for their privacy to be respected.”

The news comes one month after Salling pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography. According to prosecutors, he was found to have about 50,000 images and 600 videos of underage children being abused.

Salling was waiting to be sentenced in March. Per The Independent, he was expected to serve four to seven years in prison, plus another 20 years of supervised release and registry as a sex offender, as part of a plea deal.

The actor and musician broke through in 2009 as one of the stars of Glee, portraying Noah "Puck" Puckerman, and appeared throughout the show's six seasons.

He was arrested by the LAPD in 2015 on suspicion of having child pornography.

This is a breaking news story and has been updated throughout.
