Aussie NBA player Matthew Dellavedova is getting his own biopic
Love him or hate him, Australian NBA player Matthew Dellavedova has done well to capture attention of basketball fans with his hustle on the court.
While some may paint Delly as the league's dirtiest player, many others think that's not always a bad thing.
Perhaps that's why the life of the Milwaukee Bucks point guard makes for an attractive movie concept. A kind of twisted Aussie Cool Runnings saga in which an unlikely kid makes a splash in the big time.
A biopic is set to be made about Dellavedova, capturing his meteoric rise from small town Australian to championship winner, with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016.
Los Angeles-based producers Zachary Green and Jason Shuman will develop the project, teaming with Dellavedova and his Australian manager Bruce Kaider.
"I am honoured that Bruce, Zachary and Jason think enough about my journey to turn it into a feature film," Dellavedova said in a statement online.

"I am thrilled to be working with this incredible group to tell my story to inspire kids around the world to dream big and that hard work and perseverance pays off," he said.
The movie will reportedly be in the same vein other "great sport films" as Rocky or Hoosiers, or Remember The Titans, or Any Given Sunday, or...well, the list goes on.

"Everyone dreams of the one in a million chance of playing in the NBA, but this blue-collar kid actually achieved it. I am looking forward to bringing his story to the big screen," producer Zachary Green said in a statement.

The film is currently being written, with production to begin in Australia in 2017.
