The question on everyone's lips in the past 24 hours (who'll walk Meghan Markle down the aisle?) finally has an answer.

It's been announced that Prince Charles will take the honour.

Kensington Palace tweeted "an update on the #RoyalWedding," alongside an image of a statement.

"Ms. Meghan Markle has asked His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire of St George's Chapel on her Wedding Day," reads the statement.

"The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to The Royal Family in this way," the statement continued.

On Thursday Meghan Markle was forced to end days of speculation about whether or not her father would attend the wedding. She released a statement saying her father would not be there due to ill health.

Many wondered if her mother might walk her down the aisle instead. Alas, no. It'll be Charles.

Here's hoping this brings an end to any pre-wedding changes of plans.
