"History's just a competition," sings M.I.A. on her sunny, lackadaisical critique of the world order, "Freedun." Zayn also sings on the track, which is a surprising but perfect collaboration.

Listen to the song below and listen to an interview with M.I.A. talking about her upcoming record, AIM, out September 9.

"I kind of handed the album in and I left, and he sort of called up and kind of got on the song as I was heading to the airport and it just kind of happened," M.I.A. explained to BBC Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac, describing what sounds like an inspiring creative process. She previously stated that the duo worked on the song using WhatsApp.

M.I.A. has apparently shot some footage for the video in the Himalayans, but doesn't know whether or not she wants to use it yet.
