If Filipinos didn't get enough of the Miss Universe pageant this year with its own contestant winning the crown, they're about to get a second wave when Manila plays host to the international beauty pageant next year.

The Philippines' Department of Tourism announced to the press on Thursday that the country will be hosting the next Miss Universe on Jan. 30, 2017.

The last time the Philippines hosted the pageant was over 20 years ago in 1994, and another 20 years before that in 1974.

According to Rappler, the estimated $11 million needed for the pageant will come from private sponsors.

The country's new president, Rodrigo Duterte, said on Wednesday the government was not keen to sponsor the pageant, and that it has other priorities for its budget such as infrastructure spending.

The reigning Miss Universe, the Philippines' Pia Wurtzbach, had her big crowning moment marred in Dec. last year, when Steve Harvey, the host of the event, called out the wrong name on stage.

This led to a terribly cringeworthy decrowning of runner-up Miss Colombia, who already had the tiara on her head and was blowing kisses to the audience. When the crown was later given to actual winner Wurtzbach, she faced stunned looks and audible jeers from the crowd.

Since winning the title, Wurtzbach has spent most of the past half year representing her country at other other pageants run by the Miss Universe Organization.

Here's Wurtzbach at a recent meeting with President Duterte.
