Get ready for a documentary about the Allison Mack alleged sex cult

NXIVM, the alleged sex cult involving former Smallville actress Allison Mack, will be the subject of a new documentary series. The show will tie the group's history in with it's current circumstances, including the founder's arrest and allegations against Mack of sex trafficking.

The main subjects of the documentary series will be Sarah Edmondson (Psych) and husband Anthony Ames, who defected from the group early on (Smallville's Kristin Kreuk also joined and subsequently left). Producer Brian Graden was drawn to the immediacy of their story; documentaries like Wild Wild Country and Leah Remini's recollection of scientology are affected by years of experience and introspection.

NXIVM's front was as a self-help and women's empowerment group (at least that's how Mack pitched it to Emma Watson) but allegedly involved sex trafficking and other forms of abuse. As part of the documentary, cult expert Rick Alan Ross will help Edmondson and Ames reintegrate themselves into their old lives and appeal to remaining members of NXIVM.

As Vulture notes, both will likely be asked to testify against Mack in her upcoming court proceedings, so expect to see coverage of that aspect as well.
