Sometimes fans get a little overzealous about their favorite TV shows, and sometimes they freak out when their local McDonald's doesn't have the limited-edition sauce referenced in those TV shows.

McDonald's Rick and Morty-inspired Szechuan Sauce Disaster of 2017 -- in which McDonald's failed to live up to the demands of Rick and Morty fans -- sparked a lot of outrage from fans over the no-doubt mediocre dipping sauce. Customers were on the brink of rioting once they realized their local store had run out of the sauce originally created to promote the Mulan movie.

In the wake of this disgraceful episode in American history, Redditors were compelled to share their own experiences with fans melting down.

Rabid video game fans have garnered quite the reputation as some of the most tantrum-prone individuals, as exemplified by nearly a dozen Redditors' harrowing tales.

Here are some of the best stories of video game fandom gone mad:

Game delay triggers death threats

Sold out Skyrim causes panic

People come unhinged after failing to pre-order consoles

Final Fantasy fans make artist miss his flight

Hopeful Wii owner scolded for not taking financial advantage of a minor

We all get a little crazy about the things we love sometimes. Before you make a fool of yourself in public or start throwing punches, just remember: It's not the end of the world. There will probably be more of the thing you want at a later date.

Also keep in mind that these fans don't represent fandom as a whole. Just because someone wants an SNES Classic doesn't mean they'll start screaming if they don't get one on launch day.
