Rihanna shows solidarity with Saudi women in touching Instagram post
Rihanna has shown her solidarity with women in Saudi Arabia following the announcement that women there will be allowed to drive.
The longstanding driving ban on women has become a symbol of the oppression women face in the ultra-conservative country. It was announced Tuesday on state TV in Saudi Arabia that the ban will be lifted in June 2018.
Rihanna applauded the move in an Instagram post which features an illustration of a Saudi woman sitting on a Lexus.
"Love to see progression. Women will now be able to drive in Saudi Arabia," she wrote.
Progress is a wonderful thing.
