Samantha Bee has apologized for calling Ivanka Trump a "feckless cunt" in a segment from Wednesday's episode of Full Frontal With Samantha Bee.

After initial backlash, TBS pulled the segment from YouTube, and the show's fate may be in danger.

In the segment, Bee criticized Ivanka Trump for not advising against her father's immigration policies, which are tearing apart migrant families.

“Tearing children away from their parents is so evil, it’s the inciting incident in almost every movie we’ve ever cared about,” Bee said.

Online critics and several TV talking heads have compared this to Roseanne Barr's tweets, which got her show canceled less than a week before Bee's remarks. Full Frontal's fate hangs on that distinction; Roseanne made overtly racist comments, while Bee used an insult to further a point and ultimately spur action (with the phrase "feckless cunt" getting so much attention, it's easy to overlook the phrase that comes a few words before it: "Do something").

As Deadline points out, both TBS (where Full Frontal airs) and CNN (one of Bee's main critics on Thursday) are owned by Time Warner, a company waiting on a merger with AT&T. They want good publicity and successful business and don't want the White House upset with them right now.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders called the comments "vile," "vicious," and "disgusting" (in line with Sanders' own history with jokes).

Ivanka Trump has yet to comment – either on Bee's choice of words or on the actual content of her segment.
