Serena Williams' royal reception outfit had a very relatable surprise

Comfortable AND stylish.

There are a lot of ways in which Serena Williams is nothing like us. For starters, she was invited to Harry and Meghan's nuptials and we weren't.

But there is one thing Williams has in common with every ordinary schmuck getting dragged to a friend's wedding this summer: Even she can only take so many hours of standing around in high heels.

Williams shared a photo of herself all dressed up for the royal reception yesterday, in a colorful Valentino gown. (With pockets. Williams truly is living the dream!)

So elegant, right?

What you can't tell from the above photo is that while her dress is super-fancy, her footwear is a little more down-to-earth.

Yup, Williams wore sneakers under that gown, for the same reason that any of us would: She wanted to be comfortable, damnit.

Granted, they're Valentino sneakers, which means they probably still cost like half your monthly rent.

But we totally get the desire to party in shoes that don't leave us screaming in pain. Respect to Williams for reminding us this wedding season that comfort and style can go hand in hand.

Besides, she'd already done the stiletto heel thing earlier in the day at the ceremony.

She looks lovely, but... pointy shoes on grass? Can't blame her for wanting to give her feet a break after that.
