Someone finally addressed the big orange elephant in studio 8H.

Taran Killam did an interview with NPR about his time at Saturday Night Live (SNL), his upcoming projects and of course, Donald Trump.

In 2015, Trump was asked to host and it was met with protests outside of the NBC offices.

"We could hear the protests during our table read," Killam told NPR. The SNL alum recalled going through a table read and hearing the chants of Donald Trump's name.

"I'm embarrassed, upon reflection, just because of how everyone was right. Every person outside of that building protesting was absolutely right."

The comedian felt uncomfortable with Trump being apart of SNL, it "normalizes him and it makes it OK for him to be part of the conversation."

He recalls the experience of Trump's week at the show. Killam observed a disconnect between the President and the cast. During the table read, Killam remembers Trump taking ownership over the script.

But, one moment he remembers clearly is a host dinner with Trump and his family. Killam remembers that the president told SNL creator Lorne Michaels: “You know, Lorne, if I don’t win this thing, I’m gonna be fine. We just bought this beautiful piece of property in Scotland. If I have to be president, I’m never gonna see that thing.”

"And that that was his priority in that moment, that that was even a consideration, made me sad," Killam explained.

Since the election, Saturday Night Live has put Donald Trump and his administration in the forefront. Alec Baldwin, who became a series regular playing the President, has won an Emmy for his portrayal.

"I think the show tries to - and in particular, Lorne's outlook is - play to both sides. Play to the masses, play to whatever the popular opinion is. But, boy, they could definitely mine of comedy out of owning up to it huh?"

While Trump wasn't a great experience for him, Killam did say Drake was one of his favorite hosts on SNL and how can we blame him?

You can catch the whole interview at NPR.
