There's a bunch of driving improvements as well.

Tesla is releasing a big, holiday-themed software update for its cars, and it's a fun one.

The update in question is numbered 2021.44.25, and it wasn't available to me at writing time. Fortunately, a post on Reddit has the release notes for the update. The highlights include a new Sonic the Hedgehog game, as promised by Elon Musk earlier this month.

Sudoku is another new game that's been added to the Arcade portion of Tesla's infotainment center, and The Battle of Polytopia now supports multiplayer. Also, users should now see a TikTok app under Theater. To round up the fun portion of the update, there's a new Light Show option, which was initially made available in 2015 as an Easter Egg for Tesla Model X. It's unclear whether the new Light Show is the same or different than the one on the Model X, but it appears it is now available for all models.

This update also brings several changes that should upgrade your driving experience. The most important among these is the Blind Spot Camera, which will launch a "live camera view of your blind spot whenever you activate the turn signal." Tesla cars have some of the best cameras in the biz, so this should be a pretty useful feature.

Other additions include the ability to manually change your UI to dark mode, the ability to edit waypoints in navigation, a customizable app launcher, and simplified controls for windshield wipers, charging controls, trip and odometer information, as well as tire pressure information.

There are some cold weather improvements, too, including the ability to precondition the cabin from the Tesla app when the battery's low (though not extremely low), and seat heater automation based on cabin environment and the current temperature setting.

Finally, Tesla owners will have the ability to quickly delete all of their dashcam video clips with a tap, as well as simplify their map's look by hiding unnecessary details.
