Tom Cruise's first 'Top Gun: Maverick' photo has us pretty pumped for this sequel
The Top Gun sequel is really happening – Tom Cruise tweeted a photo hashtagged #Day1 to indicate that production is underway.
The photo shows Cruise looking toward a waiting aircraft. A text caption briefly quotes one of the movie's most famous lines: "FEEL THE NEED."

Cruise officially confirmed the production of Top Gun: Maverick in 2017, saying that production would probably begin "next year" (that's now!). After a bumpy takeoff, this decades-later sequel is ready for flight.
Top Gun: Maverick does not yet have a release date.
