Rapper Vic Mensa swung by The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore on Wednesday night to discuss Justin Timberlake and the controversial comments he made during the 2016 BET Awards that sent Twitter aflame.

The roundtable, with Wilmore and show contributors Rory Albanese and Robin Thede, focused on cultural appropriation.

"Our problem here is Justin Timberlake himself is definitely benefiting from using black culture ... but if you roll down Justin Timberlake's Twitter for the past two years like I have, you see nothing that is supporting black when it's difficult," the rapper explained.

Timberlake had tweeted he was "inspired" by actor Jesse Williams' passionate speech about race at the BET Awards. When criticized for appropriating black culture, Timberlake tweeted a series of comments that some thought sounded defensive and inappropriate.

"We’re not feeling him being down when it’s beneficial to him, and turning a blind eye when it could be dangerous," Mensa summed up.

The following day, Mensa tweeted to clarify that he didn't mean to jab Timberlake on the show.
