Last summer, legendary baseball broadcaster Vin Scully announced that the 2016 season would be his final in the booth.

Scully has been with the Los Angeles Dodgers for all 67 years of his career and has become a household name, becoming one of the most recognizable voices in all of sports, his dulcet tones covering the play on the field while effortlessly weaving in anything from stories about Jackie Robinson to Socrates.

So it's fitting that, during his retirement victory lap, the iconic Scully be enlisted by Major League Baseball to read an equally iconic passage from the sport's history: the "people will come" speech from Field of Dreams

It's hard to imagine anyone topping the great James Earl Jones, who makes the original speech in the film (which itself is worth watching), but if there's anyone suited for the task, it's Vin and the results don't disappoint. Just watch it and see if you don't get a bit choked up listening.

The video was produced by MLB as part of the promotion of its upcoming Hall of Fame Tour which is bringing a touring exhibition that will combine artifacts of the game with modern technology. The tour will hit five cities in the Midwest throughout the rest of the season and wrap up in Las Vegas in October.
