The widespread backlash over a new North Carolina law that forces transgender people to use bathrooms that align with the gender on their birth certificates has spread into the realm of adult entertainment.

Porn site XHamster is currently showing a banner to users located in North Carolina, calling upon them to stop the state's "homophobic insanity."

It appears that initially users from North Carolina were banned outright, but now they are only being served the banner, after which they can continue to use the site.

"We are appalled by the recent events that have transpired in North Carolina. We have spent the last 50 years fighting for equality for everyone and these laws are discriminatory which XHamster.com does not tolerate. As of today, access to XHamster.com is blacked out in the state of North Carolina until further notice," said XHamster in a statement, shared with Perez Hilton

The move follows protests from Bruce Springsteen and Bryan Adams, both of which have canceled their upcoming North Carolina shows.

"Some things are more important than a rock show and this fight against prejudice and bigotry — which is happening as I write — is one of them," said Springsteen in a statement on his Facebook page over the weekend.

Adams followed up with a similar sentiment after canceling his Mississippi show. "I cannot in good conscience perform in a State where certain people are being denied their civil rights due to their sexual orientation," he said in a statement.

Last week, PayPal canceled plans to open a global operations center in Charlotte in protest of the controversial new law.

"The new law perpetuates discrimination and it violates the values and principles that are at the core of PayPal’s mission and culture," Dan Schulman, CEO and president of PayPal, wrote in a blog post.
