SAVE $100: Typically $559, the AirPods Max are on sale for $449 at Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy as of Oct. 11 — an 18% savings.

Steep discounts on Apple-made headphones and earbuds have been some of the shining stars of this year's early Black Friday sales. (See: Up to $70 off AirPods, 30% off the Powerbeats Pro, and a new all-time-low price for the Beats Studio Buds.)

Next up: A whole $100 off the AirPods Max.

As of Oct. 11, Apple's premium over-ear headphones were on sale for just $449 at Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy. That's 18% off their suggested retail price of $549, which is easily their best deal to date. (Target and the Apple Store itself weren't feeling as generous, FYI; they're still full price there at the time of writing.)

The internet wasted zero time memeing the AirPods Max when they came out at the tail end of 2020: "Their super unique design alone is enough to make you do a double-take," Mashable tech reporter Brenda Stolyar wrote at the time, pointing to their bulging ear cups, pastel colorways, and funky-looking Smart Case. "Tack on that exorbitant $550 price tag, and you're right to question whether these are actually a real Apple product or an elaborate fan joke."

They are, in fact, real — and they are, in fact, an awesome pair of headphones, Stolyar went on to conclude after trying them out. Their audio quality is fantastic, and further enhanced with all of the technology that's made the AirPods line so popular over the years (like noise cancellation, a transparency mode, and the new spatial audio feature for Apple Music). Their battery will last you an entire day, easy. They connect effortlessly with other Apple devices. And aesthetically, they're actually quite "mesmerizing," Stolyar added.

In her expert opinion, the only real reasons you shouldn't get a pair of AirPods Max are if your head's on the smaller size, or if you wear glasses — they'll probably be uncomfy.

That exorbitant price tag is slightly less exorbitant at the moment, so grab a pair on sale while you still can. (We have no clue how long this discount will last.)
