The phrase "Independent Spirt Award winner Adam Sandler" might seem confusing if you've never seen his more serious work, but here we are. The Uncut Gems star made the most of his win at Saturday night's ceremony with a rollicking speech.

Adopting the gravelly voice fans of Sandler's Saturday Night Live run will recognize, the actor referred to starring alongside Aubrey Plaza (the show's host) in the 2009 Judd Apatow film Funny People as "the last time critics pretended not to hate me for five fucking minutes." And it only gets sillier from there.

There's his shoutout to "my fellow nominees, who will now and forever be known as 'the guys who lost to fucking Adam Sandler.'" And he did refer to his Oscars "snub" with a ramble that includes, "let all of those feather-haired douchebag motherfuckers get their Oscars tomorrow night. Their handsome good looks will fade in time, while our independent personalities will shine on forever.”

It's the funniest thing Sandler's done in years.
