You might not be familiar with Hercule Poirot. The fictional Belgian detective created by Agatha Christie was originally brought to life by actor David Suchet in the long-running British TV series, Poirot. You'll soon be plenty familiar, though, when this Disney+ adaptation of Christie's novel Death on the Nile arrives in the fall.

The adaptation stars Kenneth Branagh (who also directed and produced) as the famed detective. It's a murder mystery that has Poirot working to unravel what happened while he's off on holiday in Egypt. Even if you don't know the source material, there's a massive ensemble cast of big time stars angling for your attention, including Gal Gadot, Letitia Wright, Armie Hammer, Annette Bening, Ali Fazal, and Sophie Okonedo.

Death on the Nile comes to theaters on Oct. 23.

UPDATE: Aug. 20, 2020, noon EDT An earlier version of this story mistakenly noted that Death on the Nile is coming to Disney+ at release. That was incorrect; it will be released in theaters on Oct. 23.
