Trump tepidly offers 'I'm sorry if' apology for his anti-Muslim retweets

In the words of Justin Bieber, is it too late now to say sorry?

Well, for Donald Trump, it's apparently never too late to deliver a rather tepid apology for retweeting anti-Muslim unverified videos posted by the deputy leader of far-right group Britain First.

Trump today delivered a kind of semi-sorry, an "I'm sorry if.." a.k.a. the very worst kind of apology.

Speaking to Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain, Trump said he retweeted the anti-immigrant, anti-muslim videos because he's "a big believer in fighting radical Islamic terror." "This was a depiction of radical Islamic terror," said Trump.

"Well you know, look, it was done because I am a big believer in fighting radical Islamic terror.

When Morgan interjected to add that the videos retweeted were unverified, Trump began to stutter.

"Well, they are, but I didn't do it. I didn't go out and...I did a retweet," Trump replied.

Trump then began saying how much he loves Britain, the UK, Scotland, and how sad he is that his presidency is preventing him from spending more time in Scotland. Again, Morgan interrupts to ask if he can get an apology out of him for the retweets. "I think it would go a long way," Morgan said.

"Here's what's fair. If you're telling me these are horrible, racist people, I would certainly apologise if you'd like me to do that. I know nothing about them," Trump said.

Thanks, I guess?
