Someone lost control of their GoPro Karma drone as it flew over Petco Park in San Diego on Sunday in the middle of a game between the Padres and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Some in the crowd watched as it zoomed close to the field. It then rose like an inflated balloon before it careened into a thankfully empty chair.

Police found the operator outside the stadium, who reportedly said he lost control of the thing and felt awful. The FAA is looking into the situation, which makes sense--flying a drone at that height within three miles of a Major League Baseball stadium that seats at least 30,000 people is illegal while a game is ongoing. Petco Park seats more than 42,000. Drone operators who endanger property or other people can be fined up to $1,437.

Perhaps we shouldn't be surprised by this whole thing, since GoPro recalled 2,500 Karma drones on last year's election night because some Karmas lost power mid-flight. We've reached out to GoPro and the FAA for more.
