Kendrick Lamar made history at the Grammys on Sunday, taking over Jay-Z's throne as the most awarded rapper at the annual music awards.

Now with 27 Grammys (Jay-Z has 25) and 66 nominations, Lamar took home five awards at this year's ceremony including Best Rap Album for GNX, Record of the Year for SZA collab "Luther" (which also won Best Melodic Rap Performance), Best Rap Song for "TV Off," and Best Rap Performance for Clipse's "Chains & Whips."

Last year, the artist took home all five of his nominations, with "Not Like Us" taking home Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Music Video.

"It's hip hop as usual, man" Lamar said during his acceptance speech for best Rap Album on Sunday. "I'm not good at talking about myself, but I express it through the music.

"Every time I tell you this: hip hop is gonna always be right here," he added. "We gonna be in these suits. We gonna be looking good. We gonna be having our folks with us. We're gonna be having the culture with us."
