Sure, you could spend your time and money going all out for your home's Halloween display. Alternatively, you could put down the plastic skeleton and marvel at true decor mastery.

The Salt Lake City Tribune caught up with local woodworker Ammon Smith, whose commitment to holiday decor led him to build a massive King Kong Halloween display, right in his front yard.

The set-up features an enormous replica of the Empire State Building with a giant King Kong perched on top. Per the Tribune, Smith has made Halloween a priority for the past five years, constructing a viking ship (complete with dragon), a pirate ship, a cemetery, and a delightful "Haunted Skeleton Train."

And despite its staggering size, Smith tells the Tribune that his decor has yet to draw complaints from the neighbors. In fact, they're pretty into it, apparently leaving notes of support on his front door.

We're sure that's a relief, considering Smith says he spent somewhere between 80 and 100 hours putting the display together. He detailed the exhaustive building process on his blog, Designs On 9th. Fun detail: The head's made of pool floats.

Now if you'll excuse us, we'll be draping faux cobwebs before taking a nap.
