Paramount has released the first trailer for Rings, a creepy new chapter in The Ring franchise that introduces the world's deadliest viral video to the next generation of horror fans.

Rising star Matilda Lutz plays a young woman who becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape that is said to kill the watcher seven days after viewing it. She sacrifices herself to save him and in doing so, makes a horrifying discovery -- there is a “movie within the movie” that no one has ever seen before.

Rings hits theaters on Oct. 28, and we're confident you won't die one week after seeing it, but don't hold us to that. Feel free to take your chances and watch the video above.
