Tennis star Serena Williams accused the U.S. Open final umpire, Carlos Ramos, of sexism after she was penalized for calling him a “liar” and a “thief.” Williams lost the match in straight sets to 20-year-old Naomi Osaka.
Williams said the incident was a case in point of the glaring double standards according to which male and female tennis players are judged.
