"You can't stop what's coming."

Matthew McConaughey's right, folks. After many years of rumours, dead-ends and dashed hopes, the first film adaption of The Dark Tower (the movie based on Stephen King's epic fantasy series) is finally on its way -- and we now have a 3-minute trailer to sink our teeth into.

In the clip above Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor) discovers a gateway into another world, where he finds himself literally in the middle of a fight to save the entire universe -- held together by a mysterious structure known as the Dark Tower -- from imminent collapse.

Idris Elba plays gunslinger Roland Deschain, Matthew McConaughey is his mortal enemy the Man in Black, and basically the whole thing is just making me so excited I can't even type properly any more.

The Dark Tower hits theatres Aug. 4.
