The Romanov royal family is probably best known at this point for being executed while imprisoned during the Russian revolution in 1918. But nowadays everyone likes to claim they're a relative, according to this trailer for The Romanoffs.

The new show, spearheaded by Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner, features a really, really big cast of people including Mad Men stars Christina Hendricks and John Slattery. The show will tell eight stories of potential Romanov relatives and the people around them, with characters spanning multiple continents. Undoubtedly there will be some crossover at some point, which sound a little Game of Thrones-y in setup.

The Romanoffs spins onto Amazon Prime Video Oct. 12.
